2016 in a Nutshell

2016 in a Nutshell

Do we really have 72 hours left of 2016? Could someone please, virtually pinch me? Because this honestly feels like a dream. I think it is safe to say that a large majority of people would agree that 2016, for lack of better words, was a hot mess.

Although there were less than glamourous events that occurred in the year 2016, I would like to recap on all of the blessings that came out of this year.

I obtained my master's degree

I am super proud of myself for obtaining my MPH degree. Trust me when I say it definitely was not a cakewalk. Graduate school tested me in many ways. But, I left with a new found understanding of myself and my purpose in my career field.

I landed a new apartment

Adulting paid off--I leased a new apartment and words cannot express how happy I am. To simply state that apartment hunting was stressful would be an understatement. I was frustrated and anxious but I remained determined throughout the ordeal and my determination lead to me finding a beautiful place that I now call home.

I signed to two modeling agencies

Since I was 10 years old, I always dreamed of becoming a model. For awhile, I had to settle with taking selfies on Myspace and showcasing my amateur photoshop skills for the my URL friends to view. However, when I was 16, I decided to really pursue my passion and moved to California to follow my dreams (a bit cliche?). Anyways, I did pursue modeling and took a longer than expected hiatus from the industry (7 years). I still to this day do not know what sparked my interest to pursue modeling this year but i'm glad that I did. This year, I did more photoshoots than I could imagine, booked some awesome gigs, met some beautiful souls in the industry and really refined/solidified my modeling skills. As a result of my drive and perserverance, I got signed to two modeling agencies.

I obtained more URL exposure and collaborations

Lets face it--I've been blogging for nearly three years now and this year, my blog got nearly as much exposure as it did when I started it back in 2014. I was featured on Lookbook (again), landed some more blogger collaborations with well-known brands and really got to get to know some of my followers. I'm really thankful that my blog is gaining recognition from people all over the world.

I revisited old interests

When I was younger, I used to always watch the History channel and a VERY little known fact is that for awhile when I was little, I wanted to be an archeologist would would study the ancient artifacts of Egypt and Greece. Thankfully, this year revisited this interest and read up on some history from around the world. This is just one of the many interest that were in once dormant.

I have grown

Want to know the TRUEST test of growth? Look at your Facebook memories and see if you would ever dare write the same statuses that you did a few years ago. I have grown so much within this year alone. I HAD to grow because with growth beautiful things harvest. 2016 was a year of mental, spiritual and intellectual growth.

2016 will forever be known as a transitional year for me. I don't know why, but I have the strangest feeling so many good things are going to happen in the new year and I for one am looking forward to it.
